A Girl’s Best Friend

“A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.” ―Washington Irving

Walking down the hallway of my college the other day I realized something. Friends come and go. My closest friends and I from grade school and high school rarely talk. Not because we don’t want to, but because we all moved on. We all went in other directions. It was at that moment that I realized that I have only one friend that has been with me from thick and thin. The one person who I know will love me no matter what I have done or what I will do; one who doesn’t care if I have made mistakes. She loves me for me. She cares about me. My mother is my best friend.

November 019She is the person I call when I am having a good day. She’s the person I cry to when I am having a bad day. Sometimes just hearing her voice makes the sun come out again in my rainy day. She’s there for me when I need to make important decisions in my life. She was there for me in one of the hardest times of my life and I cannot imagine where I would be without her.

IMG_0684To my beautiful mom: you are so special to me. I do not know what I would do without our talks. I love you so much. I think about you every day; sometimes at the most absurd times, but you are in my thoughts daily. You are my best friend. Thank you for raising me the way you did. If we had to do it again, I hope you would do everything the same. I am so blessed to have a mother who cares so much; a mom who loves me so very much. I am so blessed to have you in my life.

I could not do this without you. Thank you for your encouragement and for your listening ear. I love you.
