Relapse – It’s okay!

coping_with_relapseSo you had a bad day… You tried so hard to be strong… But then you couldn’t hold off anymore. You relapsed. Now you feel bad. Your going to beat yourself up for days and be ashamed of what you have done.

STOP!

There’s something you need to know. You were not alone when you started this journey and you are not alone now. You are not a failure. Your so strong. Think about how good you did so far! Now this time you’ll become a little bit stronger. You need to be proud that you tried! That is such a huge step to recovery – one that no one else can force upon you. Just because you have slipped does not mean you cannot recover! Start new and do not give up! Learn from your mistakes and look forward to your upcoming success!

There is a quote by Jimmy Connors that says “Rather than viewing a brief relapse back to inactivity as a failure, treat it as a challenge and try to get back on track as soon as possible!” Your “relapse” does not define you; what defines you is how fast you get back up after stumbling. If I could snap my fingers and make you just “be okay” I would, but that is not realistic, so let’s work together to create your success story!
