Wisdom Wednesday | Baptisms

This Sunday I got the pleasure of watching a beautiful Baptism service at church. Watching these beautiful young souls share their testimonies and declare their faith in God was such a great experience. I have to admit… I cried.

There is something beautiful about what these children shared and I would like to share with the best that I can what spiritual truths they shared with us that day.

The first young boy was asked why he wanted to be baptized and his answer is beautiful. “Because God told me to.” I cannot tell you how beautiful it was to witness such a young boy with such a great faith. He shared that God has been talking to him, and showing him what he needed to do in life, and this was the next step. He wanted to be baptized because God told him too. Beautiful!

There was another young man who shared that he truly felt something growing inside him. That something was Jesus. He felt closer to God than ever before and he could feel the changes that God was making in his life. God is a real thing in his life, and because of that, he wanted to follow the will of God and be baptized. It was simply the right thing to do.

As I watched these children be baptized, I remembered back to my baptism. How unsure I was about what I wanted to say. So nervous because so many people were going to be watching me. Oh and the worst fear of all…. They wouldn’t bring me back out of the water and I would drown! Though the minute I stepped into that baptism tank, all those fears disappeared and I was sure of one thing. This is what God wants me to do. (Tweet This).

I remember walking out of the baptism tank, and around the corner and then bursting into tears. Why? People told me that it was the filling of the Holy Spirit. In that moment I felt closer to God than I ever did before. I was so happy and I felt a physical warmth like I was receiving a hug from God.

Since that day I have had my ups and down in life but that feeling.. that feeling is always there. Whenever I need it. Whenever I pray. God is living in me, and for that I am truly blessed.

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” Matthew 28:19-20
