Even the person who appears to be confident and self-assured all the time, sometimes feels a bit shaky and unsure of him or herself. We all do. Feeling confident (but not arrogant) commands respect. People will notice that aire of confidence about you and it consequently makes them feel confident about you as well Whether you’re in a sales position at work or a stay-at-home mom working the PTA bake sale, your roles in life are important and it’s likewise, important to feel and appear confident and here are five ways how to feel confident right now!
- A small change can help. Boost your confidence with a pretty lipstick that makes you feel like a million bucks. Or a signature jewelry piece that always makes you feel like you’re rockin’ it whether it’s with a suit or a t-shirt and jeans. Wear a sentimental piece. Sometimes when I need extra confidence to face a situation or event, I’ll put on a piece of jewelry that belonged to my Mom or grandmother, two of the best put-together, elegant, and most powerful women I’ve ever known. They’ve both passed. But somehow when I have that little “piece” of them, I feel like I’m channeling a bit of their wisdom and confidence.
- Dress your best. It’s been said that you should dress for the job you want. Even if you’re working fast food, if your eventual goal is to be an attorney or CEO, dress like it (when you’re not working fast food). You will start to feel the part and it will get you in the mindset of the career you’re working towards. Red has long been viewed as a power color. Watch politicians. They will choose their tie colors by what emotion they want to emit and evoke. Red makes a person look powerful. Black makes me feel powerful. The right pair of shoes can make a difference too. I feel like I can conquer the world when I’m wearing a particular black jacket or top and the right pair of boots.
- Knowledge is power. Whatever situation you’re going into–a job interview, a date, a party—educate yourself. Learn about the company you’re hoping to work for. Or bone up on the latest sports and current events info before going to a party so you’ll always have something to chat someone up about. If your date has a particular interest, maybe spend a little time learning more about that pre-date so you have a conversation starter and show that you’re interested as well.
- Smile and sing. You can “fake it ‘til you make it”, as it’s been said. Put on a smile and hold your head high and exude confidence, whether you actually feel it or not. Turn on some music or sing the song in your head if necessary. We all have songs that make us feel like we could conquer the world so conjure up one of those and strut your stuff. Act confident. Be confident.
- Remember Whose you are. You can be confident that you are whole in Jesus. He created you in His image and you are beautiful no matter how you dress, what makeup you do or don’t wear, no matter what you drive or where you live. You are special and you are beautiful. Be confident in that.

Thanks for sharing. I must say when I get all glamed up I feel like I can do anything. I love a bold lip color and some smoking hot heels. I just love looking my best and that brings on a really nice dose of confidence. Great reminder right here.
