“I will live and not die”
Psalm 118:17 (NIV) I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the LORD has done.
Life has a habit of breaking us down with its trials and tribulations. Sometimes it can drain us to the point where we lose our strength, we lose our focus, and we give up. Situations seem harder than what we can bare. Attacks may come from different areas in our lives such as relationships, finances, and our job just to name a few. What do we do when life becomes too hard? Where do we go? What resources do we have available to us when life gets like this? I know many of you have asked these questions. Sometimes it’s hard to find the answers. Well today I want to encourage you and give you some hope. There are answers to your questions and there is something that can be done.
I am going to focus on three principles that you can apply to your life:
In order to live and not die you must have
- Endurance: the ability or strength to continue or last, especially during adverse conditions. This simply means that you have to learn to withstand, you have to stand firm, you have to be planted, and rooted despite of hardships. It starts with developing a solid foundation by establishing a relationship with Jesus Christ. First you have to accept Christ as your Lord and Savior. You can simply do this by confessing that Christ is your Savior and believe that He died for your sins. Once you know that Christ is your foundation the other things mentioned above will fall into place.
- Perseverance: the steady persistence in a course of action, a purpose, a state especially in spite of difficulties, obstacle, or discouragement. Learn how to keep going, keep striving, and keep moving ahead. Know that perseverance is your actions. You should implement an action plan. This will help you to know what you are going to do when bad things happen. You must know what your purpose is. Be consistent in your prayer life, be consistent in your devotionals, be consistent in living out scripture, and be consistent in your relationship with Christ.
- Proper perspective: is your mentality. Your mind must be in the right place. Know your source, have understanding, be focused, and emulate positive thinking. It’s time to transform your thoughts about your situation and project positive energy instead of negative energy. Say things like “God will never leave me nor forsake me” “God will provide all of my needs” “God is my protector” “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. You must say and believe in your heart that these things are true. Keep your mind focused on God and godly things. Philippians 4:8 NLT states “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” So when you are going through tough times redirect your mind to focus on Jesus. (Tweet This).
