“Isaiah said to them, ‘Say to your master, “Thus says the Lord: Do not be afraid because of the words that you have hard, with which the young men of the king of Assyria have reviled me.”

Isaiah 37:6

In the world there are many who hate my God. There are many who condemn my belief in Jesus Christ. It is overwhelming and at times scary to step up and out to say that I believe in God and that I know without a doubt that He has a plan in the midst of pain. I have personally never encountered face-to-face criticism for my belief, but I have seen the criticism on social media. I have seen, in the current temperature of our world, the intense divisions that exist not only in the cities and states, but also in the church. It is intimidating and leaves me wanting to tiptoe around people, the people that God fiercely loves. But, God says that He is not afraid of this condemning by the world. God is not afraid of the hate and the words spoken against Him.

Because He is not afraid of those words, I have no reason to stay in fear. He is with me and His words carry more power than any words spoken by man, especially words filled with evil. I can walk in peace and confidence knowing that my God has gone before and is right behind me. God is calling me to be bold and confident in His power. Words are flying all around me and pain seems to be alive in every person I encounter online and in my reality. When life does not make sense and evil seems to be outshining the good, I can remember that words of hatred do not shake my God.

He is saying, Hannah, do not be overwhelmed by the hatred and the pain. Stand up and move into that space with love, grace, and truth. Trust me and trust my ways. The thoughts about me you are reading online that make you question my power and ability are not true. I am truth, do not be afraid of other’s words against me. Dear one, lean into me and trust that I am working even in the space of spiritual attack.

Do not be afraid dear one. Do not be afraid of other’s words, hold on to God’s Word.
