“For thus says the LORD of hosts, ‘Just as I purposed to do harm to you when your fathers provoked Me to wrath,’ says the LORD of hosts, ‘and I have not relented, so I have again purposed in these days to do good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. Do not fear!

Zechariah 8:14-15

There are several moments in life when you feel you just can’t go on any longer- when life seems bleak and obsolete. I have experienced a fair share of these moments. When disaster strikes, we give up on ourselves, on our beliefs. Why? Because we think it’s the end of the world. But this universe is much more than we can ever begin to comprehend- and He looks over it, planting seeds of love and compassion and watching them grow with a protective eye.

He does no injustice- His acts are merely a reaction to our own deeds, for as you sow, so shall you reap. He is the embodiment of simplicity itself- commit sins and you shall repent; do good and you shall be rewarded. He who knows us better than our own selves, knows our fears and our needs the most.

When you fear that everything is lost- when you begin to lose faith in His mercy, remember that he will forever be by your side every moment of your life, guiding you to greener pastures. For both his love and his wrath are just- even as he tests a person without a conscience, he shall do good to those who deserve it. Never under His eyes will anyone ever needlessly suffer or perish.

So, in those times when you feel fearful and lonely, remember He is right beside you and that he will never turn His back on you. He knows your fear, and he will shower his mercy and goodwill upon you. Never for a moment think that He has abandoned you. When the Lord believes you have reformed, that you have dwelt upon your wrongdoings in the past, rest assured that He will very soon bring you joy and peace. In His own words, “Don’t be afraid.” Because He never wrongs the innocents. Thank you, Lord. Amen.
