#FEARLESS365 is a yearlong study of God’s commandment to us to live without fear. For 365 days, we will focus on one scripture and volunteers from all over the world will share their personal thoughts and what God has shared with them on the specific verse. For more info… go here.

“Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion;
    see, your king is coming,
    seated on a donkey’s colt.”

John 12:15

To be honest, I let out a little chuckle when I discovered that this verse was chosen for me to discuss. First reason is that I just launched my graphic design business and named it Zion Graphics! Something about the name Zion, it reminds me of solid Grace and unwavering stability. I wanted to give my business to the Lord and to have His name in it.

 Anyways…

 The other reason I chuckled (this one is foolish) was because of the mention of the Donkey. I know – Childish of me! I never really sat down to look at the significance of Jesus riding on a Donkey (I mean, really… of ALL animals?!). So, this was my opportunity to see the significance!

 After some research, I discovered that this verse is the fulfillment of the prophecy in Zechariah 9:9

“Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your King comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gently and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey”

 Come to find out, in these days, the Donkey was a symbol of Humility, Peace and Davidic Royalty!

 I got the chills when I realized the significance of the Donkey – just think about it – by Jesus riding through Jerusalem on a Donkey, He was publicly claiming that He is the Chosen one, the chosen Son of David to sit on the Throne. The one that we can run to and not be afraid because He is salvation and He is gentle, but He is not weak! Because of the blood that ran through His veins and the Pureness of Him, he has all grounds (authority and UNWAVERING power) to withstand anything that tries to plow him over.

 He is Unmovable.

 He is Unstoppable.

 He is SOLID GRACE.

 I do not have to accept fear looking at me in the face when I have Jesus. Because he is my Salvation, He is my answer.

 He is my reason that I do not accept fear.

 Even in a time that is hopeless, I know I can turn to Him. But here is the thing… God is a gentleman, so he will never force himself on us. We have to seek Him, look to Him, let Him lead us and take over our fear.

 So instead of looking in the face of fear, turn your eyes to JESUS and put your focus on Him instead.

 Now, every time I see or hear of a Donkey, instead of giggling, I will smile because I will remember that I have nothing to fear, because I have Jesus.
