But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”

Matthew 14:30-31

Wow, I kid you not that this verse specifically speaks to what I just prayed about prior to this devotion!  You see, God placed some paths and plans into your heart.  He put desires in there that you would love to see come to fruition.  Then He said in His word, “Go, take dominion over the world.”  He wants you to chase after your God given dreams!  The only problem is so many of us grow up and forget about our dreams.  We have family and work and the pressures of life that weigh us down.  We get tied up in the problems of this world, stressed, tired and even unfulfilled.

After some time you might remember that dream, but you’re afraid to do anything with it.  You think, “There’s no way I could do that!  I can’t take off from work to bring this passion to fruition.  What if it doesn’t work?  What if I waste a bunch of time and money?  What if people think I’m crazy?“  But that’s what it was like for Peter to step out of the boat!  Peter wanted to join Jesus, he wanted to walk on water too!  He even asked God for permission!  “Lord, if it is [really] You, command me to come to You on the water.”  Jesus told him to come!

What God given dream has He given you?  What desire have you kept hidden in your heart because you’re afraid.  Don’t keep it hidden.  God gave it to you for a reason.  You are unique and you are the only one in the world that can master that dream with your flair and personality.  There are rewards that come with pursuing your dreams.  I can’t guarantee money and success, but I can guarantee fulfillment and joy.  When you’re chasing those dreams, something awakens inside and brings forth new life!

There will be obstacles, like Peter on the water, there will be strong winds and waves.  Don’t let yourself doubt.  Get out of that boat and walk where Jesus invited you to walk.  He’ll help you do it!
