#FEARLESS365 is a yearlong study of God’s commandment to us to live without fear. For 365 days, we will focus on one scripture and volunteers from all over the world will share their personal thoughts and what God has shared with them on the specific verse. For more info… go here.

If the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the Fear of Isaac, had not been with me, you would surely have sent me away empty-handed. But God has seen my hardship and the toil of my hands, and last night he rebuked you.”

Genesis 31:42

I think there are a lot of times, as Christians, that we can forget that God is not just our Friend and loving Father but that He is our Creator, the Supreme and Ultimate Being, the Beginning and End of all things, terrible, whose voice is like the thunder, who should be reverenced as God.  We take too casually the reality that He is greater than all, and above all, and that there is no final word on a matter but His.  We take His holiness for granted because we haven’t actually seen Him strike someone down with lightening because of disobedience.  A lot of times, because of our forgetfulness, we allow sin to creep into our lives and say it’s ok because we haven’t seen God do anything like He did when Ananias and Sapphira lied to the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts.  We don’t realize it, but our perception of God has actually gotten watered down because of a lack of belief. The real fact is that we need to respect Him as the One who has the power to do all things including snuff our life out like the flame of a burning candle can be snuffed out – in a moment. Know that the Lord, He is God!

This isn’t a scary reality for me and it shouldn’t be for you either. I don’t walk around anymore wondering if the God of the Universe loves me, and I don’t live in fear that He will one day snuff my life out like that candle flame I mentioned.  I will admit, there are times when I don’t feel His love like I want, but then that’s just a feeling, they come and go…His word says He loves me, so I don’t have to wonder about it.  The reality that God, gigantic, huge, enormous God, over my frail, sinful, human-self, makes me rejoice!  I rejoice because I know Him!  I KNOW HIM!  You know Him!  We are on God’s side and He is on ours.  He is for us; what an awesome reality to live in everyday!  Sometimes I let myself go and think into His greatness, into His ability, into His power, in the Old Testament and through Jesus, His Son, in the New Testament.  It blows me away!  I am humbled by the reality of His greatness.  I am humbled by the fact that He has the ability to wipe me out, but instead He chooses to love me.  His love draws me in.  It brings me to my knees, makes me bow in my heart.  His greatness makes me remember that I don’t know it all.  It makes me respect and reverence Him as God and makes me want to love Him more.
