#FEARLESS365 is a yearlong study of God’s commandment to us to live without fear. For 365 days, we will focus on one scripture and volunteers from all over the world will share their personal thoughts and what God has shared with them on the specific verse. For more info… go here.
The LORD said to Moses, “Do not be afraid of him, for I have delivered him into your hands, along with his whole army and his land. Do to him what you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon.”
Numbers 21:34
How to Become Fearless requires Brave Faith
In this world, many things can create fear. Death, sickness, violence are just a few scary things.
Fear is a normal human reaction and its purpose to help us survive, however fear can extend into our daily life and cause problems. It can keep us from living, establishing relationships and enjoying the life we have.
I’ve been afraid the last 6 years and anxiety is to blame. It has its chains on me and I can’t seem to shake them loose. This anxiety has caused panic attacks, fear of driving and at one point fear of leaving my home.
Have you felt fear like this?
What I fear the most is, it will be a part of me forever, keep me from the life God has planned for me and cause my faith to plateau and never reach its full potential. I’m plain ‘ole sick of it stealing any more of my life and my family’s life.
Becoming Fearless
In Numbers 21:34, Moses and the Israelites are afraid of a giant, enemy king. They cry and pray to God to help rescue them and give the giant over to them.
Now throughout this chapter of Numbers, we read about the Israelites complaining and grumbling about the conditions of the wilderness as God led them from Egypt to the Promised Land. Time and time again, God helped the Israelites with enemy armies, snakes, and no water or food.
Yet, they continued to waver between unbelief and belief. Honestly, I find myself doing this same type of wavering.
Brave Faith
My fear and anxiety have been huge giants in my life and they are too big for me to fight in my own flesh. I’m just like the Israelites in my faith; God can and will help me versus helping myself.
The reality is, I haven’t been able to unlock the chains yet myself. My fear prolongs because I change alliances often. I’m sure I’d have conquered these giants by now if I’d only stay firmly grounded in faith.
This year, 2017, I’m trusting solely in God, who is holding the key to the release of these giants.
When I have God on my side, I am more than a conqueror and no giant can take me out, even the biggest mountain tall giants.
In unbelief or in my own strength, I will lose the battle but when I team up with God and believe in His strength I am victorious in whatever problem comes my way.
God encourages us to not fear danger in this life because He will use all of it to grow us in maturity.
We can truly become fearless when we have God on our side. For this reason, no giant can overcome the Lord Almighty.
In other words, with faith, God will deliver these heavy bindings into my hands. He will increase my trust and create a testimony to share for others dealing with fear and anxiety.
