And he said, Peace be to you fear not: your God, and the God of your father, hath given you treasure in your sacks: I had your money. And he brought Simeon out unto them. ”
Genesis 43:23 KJV
In the Bible days, I assume, it was easier to venture off the straight and narrow pathway. There were not very many places to worship the living God. It really took a man or woman of Godly strength and wisdom to walk steadfastly in the Christian faith. However, no matter what time period in history God has always proven true to those that love Him. Simeon’s case was similar to ours today. Even though they did not have access to social media, people had strong, self-centered, self- worshipping egos. It was just as easy to be distracted from our main goals because people still wanted to brag and boast about what they have accomplished in their life-time. It’s always about the rich and famous, you know, people tend to forget that the basic necessities is all we really need. We want the fancy things that our friends have, we want the big, fine mansions, and the big vacations that they go on every year. We, and I, myself, included forget that when we work and put forth our best effort, God will and always has been there.
In today’s world, even though there is freedom to worship our living God, people forget that He is the reason we do have all the fancy things. We seem even more ungrateful for the things that are offered to us and want more and more all the time. It is okay to want these finer things that life has to offer and we should want to strive to be as successful as possible. However, let us not forget what God has given us in the first place. As the Hymn by Bill and Gloria Gaither says, ” Because He lives, ” All fear is gone. ” Because He lives,” I can face the future.” I love Genesis 43:23, I could go on and on, about how God has provided and kept me from many of life’s struggles. For this article, I will stop here though, and continue my thoughts of God’s grace on my own. However, I hope something I have written as been a blessing.
